Stephanie is a Director. She is a Duty Solicitor, who qualified in 2004. Stephanie practises Criminal Defence and Prison Law, specialising in Lifer Parole Hearings and is a member of the Association of Prison Lawyers. She is Joint Honorary Secretary for Birmingham Law Society, and a member the Criminal Law Committee, which meets every month to discuss local issues within the Criminal Justice System. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga and spending time with her family.
Hashmita is a Director. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2009, specialising in Criminal Defence Work. She conducts trials in the Magistrates Court, attends the Police Station as Duty Solicitor and she prepares Crown Court cases. Hashmita has previously dealt with cases all over England and has worked in Manchester and London. She is fluent in Gujarati. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, cooking and reading.
John qualified as a Solicitor in 1973. He became a Duty Solicitor in 1974 and a Solicitor-Advocate (Criminal Proceedings) in 2003. He specialises in Crime and has operated at Partner, Consultant or Head of Department level throughout his long career. He holds a 1st Class Honours degree together with an MA in Legal Practice. Outside the law, he keeps fit by running and playing 5 a side football together with chasing after his 7 grandchildren.
Carla qualified as a Solicitor in 2009. She became a Duty Solicitor in 2010 and a Solicitor-Advocate (Criminal Proceedings) in 2018. She conducts trials in the Magistrates Court, attends the Police Station and is a Crown Court Advocate. Carla specialises in Prisoner’s Rights and was previously employed by the British Embassy, Bangkok assisting British Nationals detained across Thailand. Carla has been previously awarded Leicestershire Law Society’s Young Solicitor of the Year for her dedication to Prisoners’ Rights.
Outside the law, Carla enjoys running, yoga, travel and spending time with her dogs.
Sebah Naz Baig
Naz is a duty qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor hailing from London, which is where she completed her training and qualified in 2015. She has extensive experience in representing vulnerable persons, including those suffering from psychological and mental health problems. Naz is fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi ensuring effective client care for a varied client base. In her spare time, Naz enjoys bingeing on box sets, arts & crafts and is an avid shisha fan.
Sue is our Office and Compliance Manager. Sue has a background in legal aid compliance and auditing, having worked in both public sector (Public Defender Service and LSC) and private practice. She is responsible for audits to include SQM; Lexcel; peer review and costs compliance and she undertakes our bookkeeping. In her spare time, Sue enjoys UK holidays with her dogs, Agatha Christie books and family time, testing real ale.
Jess is a Paralegal who has been police station accredited for more than 3 years. She represents clients who are under investigation by the police, DWP, Environment Agency, HMRC and the RSPCA. Jess also prepares our Crown Court cases for trial and undertakes prison adjudications before the Outside Adjudicator. Her hobbies include clay pigeon shooting, running, weight lifting and she runs an animal rescue sanctuary that takes in turkeys, ducks and chickens.
Kara is a Legal Secretary with experience at a number of criminal defence firms. She has an NVQ, Level 3 in Business Administration. She assists the fee earners with their day-to-day needs, booking appointments and typing letters to clients. In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family, going on day trips and watching T.V. boxsets.
Laura is a Legal Administrator. She assists clients in organising appointments and legal visits and she undertakes a number of administrative tasks for our fee earners. She is the first point of call for our clients. Her hobbies include listening to music and watching television.
